Gregorian chant: Requiem - Vol. 11 (CD 22)
Editions Sacra Musica (2009)
The Requiem mass for the deads is part of the basic repertoire from the early centuries, even if the current configuration is the result of slow modifications throughout the ages.
As a matter of fact, it is one of the most popular masses. Reminiscence of it is to be found in almost anyone's memory... for our greater pleasure.
This record includes the complete liturgy of the deads, from taking the body from the house (a ceremony which does not take place at home anymore, but generally on the church yard) to the proper burial with its magnificent antiennes In Paradisum and Ego sum resurrectio et vita.
Completing the liturgy of sacraments, the wedding mass was added to the series, meeting the numerous requests we received in this sense.
The handbook contains an historical review of the gregorian repertoire for those 2 masses, putting a fortunate last touch to a very interesting product indeed.
The masses are punctuated with organ music by J.-S. Bach plaid on the Aubertin instrument from St-Louis-en-l'Ile church in Paris by Vincent Rigot.
