This disk contains the recording of a concert given on July 2, 2006, in St- Nicolas du Chardonnet, and offers a selection from the repertory of the past year. This performance is the result of three years of intensive work by the Choir of St-Nicolas, to the accompaniement, during major events, of the instrumental ensemble Janua Caeli. A genuine institution in the parish, Janua Caeli is made of strings (violins, tenor violin, violoncello, double-bass), and additional instruments (trumpets, oboes).

Buxtehude : extracts of cantata Mysterium Redemptionis. This is the Adventskantate(Cantata of the Advent, composed by Buxtehude as part of the Advent musical evenings he gave in Lübeck). This cantata was reworked with a text in Latin, composed of various extracts of the liturgy of the Temporal, which depicts the mystery of redemption from Advent to Lent. The music is magnificent. This work – totally unknown, even from musicians – deserves being listened to. Duration : 13 minutes.
